Older GMC models allowed dimming of backup camera via interior dash controls. The new default brightness is too bright and creates more hazardous problems than simply allowing the user some dimming capabilities. Now I do not use the back up camera at night because it's too bright per factory settings (ignored at night). However, the added brightness is appreciated in daytime hours and needed at sunny times.
Effectively, there is no BU camera during night time hours for me. The feature is lost. It's too dangerous (excessive interior window glare, physical eye response time is increased between night time driving and viewing roadway or lot areas with mirrors etc vs looking at such a bright screen that is too bright to safely view and use at night...) which makes it useless.
Please allow drivers to adjust brightness as needed in various conditions. One setting doesn't work well. Many people I've talked with agree that operators should be able to dim the camera but don't mention the issues caused by having only one brightness setting in surveys.
