I BOUGHT THIS TRUCK USED AT A DEALERSHIP. AT THAT TIME I TOOK THE TRUCK HOME AND FIRST TIME I WASHER IT, THE PAINT PEELED FROM JUST A GARDEN HOSE. AT THAT TIME, I WAS UNDER A GMC USED TRUCK WARRANTEE AND THE DEALERSHIP TOOL CARE OF IT. WITHIN 6 MONTHS LATER, IT HAPPENED AGAIN. WHEN I COMPLAINED, THEY PUT ME TOGETHER WITH THEIR PAINT REPAIR GUY WHO TOOK CARE OF IT AT NO CHARGE TO ME.

ONE MY WARRANTEE EXPIRED, THE PAINT PEELING HAPPENED AGAIN, THIS TIME VERY SEVERE. FRONT HOOD, ABOVE AND ON BOTH SIDES OF FRONT WINDOW. I EVENTUALLY TOOK THE TRUCK AND HAD IT PAINTED FOR AROUND 1500 DOLLARS.

NOW, AS OF THIS DATE, IT IS HAPPENING AGAIN IN SEVERAL DIFFERENT PLACES. THE MAIN PROBLEM IS, THIS IS MY WORK TRUCK AND I HAVE TO LEAVE IT UP TO A WEEK EACH TIME I NEED IT FIXED AND IT'S STARTING TO GET EXPENSIVE.

Sierra 1500 SLT 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 100,000 miles

IN MY FIRST COMPLAINT, I EXPLAINED HOW I HAD SEVERAL LARGE AREAS PEELING AND PAID TO HAVE THE TRUCK REPAINTED IN THOSE AREAS.

THIS TIME, WHICH STARTED IN 2023, I'M STILL GETTING PAINT PEELING IN SEVERAL DIFFERENT AREAS AGAIN. NOW ON THE SIDES OF THE FRONT WINDOW AGAIN, DIFFERENT AREA FROM THE FIRST TIME. ALSO, OVER THE FRONT WINDOW, SAME AS THE FIRST TIME AND NOW, BY THE REAR DOOR WINDOWS.

Sierra 1500 All Terrain V8

All HWY miles, garaged. Paint peeling on front hood. Bought new and I'm sure it will worsen and eventually find more. Have been so disappointed in this vehicle. This is the last straw!

Sierra 1500 SLT 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 85,000 miles

Started noticing the paint peeling off the truck when on our way back home from Texas in Dec. 2021. At first it started at the back right window, then I noticed it on the left back window. Went to Motor City Dealership where we bought the truck, and the service manager had not seen the truck yet, but as soon as I told him that the paint was peeling, right away he said "from the back windows?". I told him yes. He told me that there was nothing they could do about it, that we had to deal with GM directly.

Well, that got us nowhere. I took it to a paint shop to see how much it would cost me to correct this problem, when he noticed the paint peeling around the front windshield and showed me that the top was starting to bubble up and getting ready to also peel. To repaint my truck, I have the Pearl White color, will cost me anywhere from $5500 to $9000. The owner of the paint shop said that he has had others come in with the same problem. I paid TOO much for my truck for this to happen and for GM to think that they DO NOT have to take care of this problem. I am a firm believer to always buy American made, but after this, I am not so sure anymore.
