design flaw allows side mirrors to be easily stolen
Sometime on or before the early morning of February 11, 2017 a thief easily removed the driver and passenger side mirrors of my wife's GMC Sierra pickup from the driveway of the CA home -- with security lights and visibility. The Costa Mesa police were called and report was made, case #17-002000. Total damage including labor -- only $500!!
In the process of our conversation with the Simpson GMC dealership in Buena Park, CA the truck was purchased from - the parts manager revealed that "2 or 3 people a week come into the parts department complaining of the same issue". He went on to say they have plenty of replacement mirrors in stock for this very reason.
Wow -- thanks allot GMC -- we appreciate it. How about replacing the mirror assembly with something that doesn't have a flashing "come steal it" sign ?
Thank goodness our police office was sympathetic - he mentioned the detectives would be made aware of the situation -- he also was of the opinion that it was a professional ring.
I'm sure there are thousands of suckers like us out there -- perhaps GM will review this and take some action -- how about starting with reimbursing us for the cost until the design flaw can be fixed and replacements offered.
