- Summary
- This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that have an ignition key cannot be turned. Technician will need to insert the key and measure the gap from the key to the cylinder. If the key is not going in fully the ignition lock cylinder will need to be replaced. Also obtain a new key that is cut to the vehicle. Technician will need to shorten the key shank by grinding or cutting 6-7 millimeter (1/4 inch) off the tip of the key, and then bevel the tip of the key. Now the technician can install the new ignition lock cylinder.
