2014 GMC Sierra. Consumer writes in regards to driver airbag and pre-tensioner recall repair issues. When the consumer received a second recall notice, he called the dealer, where they informed him the work had already been performed. The consumer went to the dealer a month prior, after receiving a recall notice and the invoice stated consumer received GM campaign notice.
Took vehicle in for recall on November 1 prior to making appointment for that date. Got there on time, service tech said they did recall on prior visit, for other recalls.I left the dealership thinking I was all set, when through my paperwork and found no evidence of this recall being repaired.went online plugged in VIN no. And came back recall not complete.
Takata recall. The contact owns a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign numbers: 16V651000 (air bags, seat belts) and 16V209000 (seat belts). The dealer scheduled a repair, but when the contact arrived at the dealer, he was informed that the part was not available and the vehicle would need to be kept for 5 to 7 days. The contact would have to sign a waiver to release the vehicle. The dealer provided no accommodations for a loaner vehicle. The manufacturer was not notified. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
The contact owns a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500. While driving 40 mph, another vehicle crashed head on into the contact's vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed. The contact sustained severe whiplash and a concussion, which required medical attention. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and sent an engineer to inspect the vehicle. Shortly after, while driving at an unknown speed, the stabilitrac warning light illuminated and the power steering malfunctioned. The steering wheel jerked violently. The vehicle was towed back to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that all the steering electronic sensors needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 19,000.
