In less than three years of owing our GMC Sierra truck the a/c started blowing hot air. Took to Classic GMC in Carrollton where we purchased the truck. We were told it was the condenser that needed to be replaced. Our truck was under the 36 months warranty, but it exceeded the miles warranty (was at 57,303) therefore, not under warranty. It cost us $970.
Less than a year later the same thing happened. Called the dealership, was told condensers are on back order. Called another GMC dealership (McKinney Buick GMC), and took my truck in. Before the truck was looked at, was told that if it was the condenser again, they already have 14 of them back ordered and it could take weeks to get it repaired. However, I was told it wasn't the condenser this time it was the hose to the condenser and that cost me $500. So, to date, I own a truck that's three years old and has already had close to $1500 worth of repairs to the a/c. We've never had this issue with any other non-GMC autos in the past. After taking to both dealerships and GMC Head Quarters, I was told to file my complaint with BBB and with Safecar.gov ... really? Shouldn't GMC realize that if one dealership alone has 14 backorder and it's on their own GMC Nation Wide backorder list that this is a BIG ISSUE and it should be a recall. GMC should also refund those of us that have had to pay for this defective part (s).
