Is there a class action suit on this brake issue and are people getting dealership support since this is a safety issue? How about out of warranty owners? This is a dangerous issue, and needs resolved.

Truck won't stop at times. Have to push the brake pedal through the floor. This is a potentially serious problem. Had the vacuum pump replaced on my own dime.

Sometimes the brake pedal at low speed will get extremely stiff and fail to stop the truck when I need it to. No collision but this is unacceptable.

Backing down boat ramp I had to apply extreme amount of brake force to even begin to slow down. If it had been someone in the truck other than me (wife) we would have had a major collision. I understand that I am not the only person to have acquired this VERY dangerous problem. Normal driving, I have had no Brake problems. No warning lights or anything telling you of this issue.

I am amazed that General Motors has not recalled their vacuum pumps on these trucks, as that was what was wrong. I took it to my servicing dealership and they knew of the issue and said to keep my receipt as they were pretty sure G.M would put out a re-call, and I would be reimbursed. $ 427.95.

This is my fourth GMC ( started leases in 2008) and I usually lease my trucks through my business and rarely put this many miles before lease end. I purchased this one and hope this is not one that I should have turned back in. For anyone with these issues please be careful and get it fixed A.S.A.P.

PS Also had to replaced GPS antenna @ $ 246.31...…..Just sayin

On July 16th 2018, I dropped my truck off at the dealership to be serviced for the air condenser, due to the AC no longer cooling properly. While being serviced, the power lock actuator was replaced on my rear driver side door because the automatic lock was no longer operable.

While my truck was in the shop, I received a phone call about my rear brakes needing to be serviced due to the pads being low. Prior to being serviced, my brakes were fine. I didn't have any issues with them at all. I recently had the oil changed at another dealership, and they never mentioned the brakes needing attention.

After picking up my truck on July 19th, I began noticing issues when attempting to brake. Slowing down wasn't an issue until going downhill. The brakes began to make a grinding noise and pulsing while at a slow speed. I had all of the brakes replaced due to this issue, but after replacing them all the brakes were fine. This did not fix the problem.

At this point, this is a safety hazard. My wife was leaving the house one day and while descending down the driveway, she couldn't stop. She almost hit a car, not to any fault of her own but due to the faulty brake system. Now it seems like I'll have to take it back to the shop after getting it serviced 8 days ago. The extended warranty is very much needed, but unfortunately my time is being wasted on issue after issue.

Update from Jul 31, 2018: Come to find out it's the vacuum pump, $590 later!!!

Sierra 1500 XLT 3.5L V8

  • Automatic transmission

Driving to work and pulled into the parking lot and brake pedal became very stiff and hard causing the ABS to make the brake pedal pulsate. My truck ran over the cement parking block causing damage to the bottom of the vehicle. The vehicle had to be towed to the GMC dealership and it was discovered that the vacuum pump was at fault. I was surprised to see that this is a fairly common problem and could potentially be a very dangerous problem if not address very soon. Serious injuries to the occupants or pedestrians could happen if the brake failure happens at a critical time or place.

While driving brakes acted normal, upon pulling into a parking lot pulled through a spot and went to apply brakes to stop and back in, upon doing so the brake pedal was hard and vehicle would not stop for several feet. went to back vehicle into spot and had essentially no brakes. took unit to dealer and found vacuum pump to be faulty. I asked if this was a common problem and told no they had not seen or heard of any issues, but they did have parts in stock to repair it... not sure why you would carry parts for a 2014 truck for a problem that doesn't exist. contacted GMC to file complaint of which they also said they do not have any known problems with this and that maybe the part served it's useful life expectancy of less than 80,000kms. this had no warning and could have been worse, pedestrians, stop and go traffic, wife or child could have been driving... not impressed.
