Purchased my 2014 GMC Sierra with factory chrome running boards directly from the dealer. Roughly 2.5 years later, my friend mentioned to me how his also 2014 GMC Sierra truck running boards had rusted and been replaced so I decided to take a closer look at mine and sure enough, they were rusting on the side. Brought the truck in to the dealer before the warranty was up and they agreed that the boards were rusting early and that they would replace them under warranty but problem is this isn't a solution to the problem. I insisted that they just give me credit for the running boards since clearly, they are not made for the salty roads of Manitoba but they refused and insisted that they had to be installed! I tried to get them to put the set in the box, save yourself the installation time, but no, boards had to be installed so now I have to take them off and find a seller to somehow recoup the cost for the non factory running boards I plan to put on. Called GMC directly and they refuse to admit that this is a problem and that direct replacement is an acceptable response.
