Dash is cracked in multiple locations, vehicle taken to the dealer and dealer states that manufacturer is not liable and will not cover costs. Started with one crack near the passenger airbag and several cracks have appeared over the years.
Dash is totally falling apart. There is large cracking above the gauge cluster and around the passenger airbag, and every day I am removing more small pieces that fall off. These pieces are small, sharp, hard plastic and even metal in some places that will cause serious damage to any occupants if I were to get in an accident. I treat my vehicle very well and have done my best to keep cracking under control but it is getting worse and worse every day now.

The dash cover panel over the instrument cluster and passenger side airbag has cracked and has begun to come apart in pieces. I have contacted a local dealer and they have informed me the recall on the passenger side airbag replacement does not cover replacement of the cracked dash cover. The dash cover has begun to produce large jagged pieces where it has cracked that in my view pose a safety threat should an accident occur. The failing dash could produce shrapnel in an accident that could cause serious face lacerations or eye trauma. GM needs to provide a replacement recall on the dash panel.
The dash has cracked at the corner of the passenger side air bag and another crack has formed above the instrument cluster on the driver side. Both cracks have formed in the last 6 months beginning with the one at the passenger side air bag. The truck is in great condition with only 55,000 miles at this time.
Got in the truck a year ago and noticed a crack in my dash above the instrument cluster, after further inspection I notice 2 more cracks both by the passenger airbag. This happened at around 55,000 miles. This vehicle was stationary at the time I noticed the cracks
Passenger door handle somehow became disengaged and just fulls out loosely. Have to get in and open from inside. It appears to have a plastic hook on the handel that must have disengaged from something inside the door. Door hardly gets used. Is this acovered problem"?"
Cracked dashboard - the dashboard on my 2012 GMC Sierra 1500 series truck has cracked on both the driver and passenger side. Now, due to the severe cold, the crack on the driver's side is expanding due to the expansion and contraction of the plastic thru interior heating and rapid cooling of the vehicle. These cracks occurred during normal driving conditions on state highways and interstates.
Dash cracked on passenger side above air bag. It cracked when the vehicle was parked, and was running to heat the vehicle with the heater and defrost. Interior temperature was set to 75, outside temperature was around 35. Dash crack extends from the air bag which appears to cause a safety issue.
Takata recall dash is crack on the top at airbag afraid in a crash that the bag can lunch shards in to passengers or the bag will be ripped when deployed
Dash has cracked from the passenger side airbag to the front of dash cap and along instrument cluster to the front of dash cap. This can easily cause a problem should the airbag go off. At this point I believe the center of the dash would shatter sending shrapnel to every direction inside the truck should the airbag go off or a collision. For me to replace this is going to cost $1000 this is GMC's responsibility for poor engineering and poor quality. They should fix this before someone gets seriously hurt or killed! I shouldn't have to spend $1000 on a $60,000 truck because the dash isn't supported properly to keep from falling apart. Besides, why spend $1000 on a new one when it's just going to crack again. Structural flaw!!
Dashboard surrounding airbag and instrument cluster is cracking and essentially disintegrating. If my airbag deploys or I'm involved in a collision these sharp plastic fragments will become a safety hazard. This truck has 38K miles and is in otherwise pristine condition with zero scratches on the interior parts aside from these dash cracks. The plastic is protected every three months at least with aerospace 303 and protected from sunlight when not in use. This is not a maintenance issue, it's a structural defect. Thousands of these vehicles are affected.
The drivers side inside door handle broke off. After reaching down to open the door from the inside the metal attached to the handle snapped off and I was left holding the plastic handle and unable to open my door from the inside. The metal is made from a bimetal product and appears to be fragile and lite for the purposes of opening the door. Incase of an emergency this could have been a life threating situation. After searching on-line this appears to be a problem many consumers are having with their GMC vehicles. I was parked in a parking lot when this occurred, I did not put undo pressure on the handle.
