cold weather...easy quick start.drove couple of miles...went in store...came out...crank,crank,crank finally started. rough engine idle...service engine light on....service stabiltrak light...would not rev up above 1000 rpm....reduced engine power light on...hard shifting. went to dealer...told could not look at for several days. Was finally told battery was defective....12.6 volts 450 cca....I do not call that a fail. BOTTOM LINE...did not dare to not do as they said in case of future issues. paid my $400.00 for services and new battery and left. Three weeks later SAME PROBLEM. Returned to dealer. At first I was told defective battery. Had to leave again several days to diagnos. Dealer told me upgrades to software and many other checks. Finally it was determined that there was a bulletin to replace defective ignition switch as there was a short in switch that caused engine and driving issues. I was told that I would only have to pay my $100.00 deductible on my extended warranty. Why did recall not show first time???? I protested that my previous problem was identical to new issue and that I believed that I was previously sold a battery that was not required. Service writer went somewhere with my bill and returned stating that there would be no charge. I asked for a copy of invoice and was told that when it was updated that I would be mailed a copy. After about three weeks I had still not received an invoice. I went to dealer and requested invoice. There was none to be found after they looked many areas. Finally I asked to talk to service manager. After explaining my story again to service manager....my work order showed up. Bottom line ..I was given a copy of invoice at no charge to me. There have been no related issues since...thank goodness. Now I hear almost daily of ignition switch problems on earlier GM vehicles and the potential risk to the passengers and the major cover up by GM....I very much question should my problem have been handled better/differently. I really feel conned by dealer and GM about my truck problems.
