This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
My son was driving his 2006 GMC Sierra pickup, when the ABS warning light illuminated, followed by the truck wanting to steer to the right. He investigated and found that the right front wheel was tilted inboard and decided to have the truck towed home. Today we removed the wheel, and found a total failure of the wheel hub assembly. This is a sealed unit that contains the wheel bearings, and has the wheel studs mounted to it also. Apparently this is not an item that can be serviced in the field, such as repacking of the bearings. Both wheel bearings were completely destroyed, and the only thing holding the wheel on was the brake caliper. We installed a new hub assembly and brake disc to correct the problem. Old parts are available.
