I started smelling gasoline and found a corroded fuel line at the junction between the nylon line leading from the fuel pump to the steel line going to the fuel filter. Doing repairs, the hard brake line leading from the ABS unit under the driver's seat area to the rear flex line connector was leaking badly as well at the rear-most fitting. Purchasing these lines separately cannot be done, so I'm replacing all of the fuel/brake lines myself. I'm using stainless tubing for the brake lines not provided by factory GM parts.

I have a 2000 GMC Sierra that had brake line rust through causing brake failure. I got under the vehicle to try and change the line and found all the lines are severely rusted as is the fuel lines. Yes my truck is old and I live in the rust belt of N.Y but something needs to be done either N.Y stop using salt or the vehicles need to be built with lines that don't rust out. This issue I think is a safety issue that would be easily fixed by either no more salt or better line in the vehicles that don't rust through.

The fuel gauge is bouncing erratically every time the vehicle is in park or neutral but in no other gear. It has been fine for years but suddenly started acting up. The truck receives regular maintenance, but the start of the problem did not coincide with any maintenance or any event. It just started happening.

My gas gauge on my 2000 GMC Sierra pickup is acting erratic. It goes back and forth between full and empty for no apparent reason. This started about a year ago. The dealer said it was probably the sending unit in the tank and would cost approx $800 thank you...

Gas gauge on 2000 GMC K1500 pick up truck working erratic. Sometimes gauge goes to empty and then a check engine light goes on. I understand that a lot of people with these trucks are having the same problem. GMC needs to have a recall thanks.
