2000 GMC Sierra 1/2 ton 4X4 truck brake line failure in March 2009 a rear brake line failed due to excessive corrosion no accident due to failure and had to have the truck towed for repairs. Repair shop had to replace rusted metal line and one rear brake caliper due to excessive corrosion. 24 July 2010 another brake line ruptured due to excessive corrosion. Again truck will be towed to repair shop for brake line replacement/repair. This is the second brake line to rupture due to excessive corrosion and I've noticed the entire brake line and fuel line system is severely corroded with rust. I no longer feel this truck is safe to drive and will be getting rid of it asap after repairs. Luckily the brake lines failed while the truck was parked in my driveway. Updated IVOQ 09/10/10

2000 GMC 1500 Sierra 47,357 miles had a recall about a year ago. They cleaned and etched front brake lines at the calipers. Today towing a trailer with a car in the I-95 corridor between D.C. and baltimore I had to attempt a quick stop for slow traffic when suddenly I lost all breaking pressure and fortunately ended at the inner grass space barely saving a horrible crush with several cars lined in front of me. My front reservoir was very low, underneath the car at the driver's door level all 4 break lines were badly swollen and corroded, one at least was obviously dripping, and even the frame was corroded and metal chunks were easily knocked. Other sections look very rusty worse than a 65 Ford galaxie am restoring.and this at almost 48,000 miles.

2000 GMC pickup brake line on the driver's side rear wheel broke. This resulted in total loss of brakes in about 3 miles. A recall was performed on on the brakes prior to this incident. The line showed sign of wear from rubbing on other brake lines. A year later the line broke again in the same location. It too had showed signs of wear.
