Summary
This Preliminary information communicates that a technician might find a vehicle with no power transmitted to the front axle in four wheel drive. If vehicle has regular production option NQF the technician finds that with vehicle in four wheel drive with solid indicator light but the front wheels do not assist in moving vehicle he is to verify when shifting the transfer case to four wheel drive the light is solid If that switch illuminated solid then all operations to achieve four wheel drive were completed successfully. Technician is to inspect pictured item and ensure that the body ring that the synchronizer engages has not separated from theTransfer Case Front Output Shaft Drive Sprocket. If so then replace the transfer case front output drive shaft sprocket as needed. If vehicle has regular production option NQG and the customer indicates that the transfer case was in four wheel drive with that indicator light on solid in the instrument panel cluster but the front wheels were not assisting in vehicle movement technician is to verify the following, shift the transfer case to four wheel drive and ensure that the four wheel drive in the instrument panel cluster is on solid. Technician is to inspect pictured item and ensure that the body ring that the synchronizer engages has not separated from theTransfer Case Front Output Shaft Drive Sprocket.If so then replace the transfer case front output drive shaft sprocket as needed.
