Multiple intermediate steering shaft failures over the years with loud clunking noises heard. This truck is lightly used and now has only 24,000 miles on it but it has just had the fourth shaft installed by the dealer"!"!
07 GMC Sierra(new body style) was parked. When the truck was placed in reverse and the steering wheel slightly turned there was a loud pop underneath the front end. The right front wheel would not turn when turning the steering wheel but the left would. The truck was towed to a repair shop and was diagnosed that the inner tie rod became unscrewed from the rack steering. New inner and outer tie rods were installed and the truck was re-aligned. If this had happened while driving down an interstate it may have been disastrous.
