Several problems with 2001 GMC Jimmy. Battery - was leaking & running down engine compartment - (under warranty) dealer was going to replace battery & fix where acid had eat up pan, under coating, wires, etc. Dealer did not do any of this - all they did was super glue bad battery connector back to battery. I went back to dealer to complain & was told that they did not have time to even look to verify that nothing was done. Warranty expired 2 days later. Go figure! brakes - have gone thru 2 sets of pads all around - had to replace 2 rotors so far- as they were eat up completely - nothing left on one side. Makes constant grinding noise like brakes are being ridden. Lights - had to have emergency switch replaced under warranty.( had no brake lights) transmission - always revving up or dropping down. Front end - popping cracking noises. Interior lights - dim & light always on everything. Ask 1st dealer for a print out of service on vehicle- was told that nothing had been done to it ever. Ask 2nd dealer for print out - found that vehicle had been towed in 3 times for problems ( I bought it with 10,000 miles on it) they had replaced a few things several times (forgive me I do not have that info handy at present) also, sometimes ie feels like accelerator sticks. I usually drive Chevy - this was my 1st & last GMC (I know that they are the same basically) I feel unsafe in my car & I'm currently trying to get my old Chevy running again so I can get rid of this piece of junk!!!! please help if possible. The time line is from July 2002 thru current Jan 2 2005.
I purchased our 2001 Jimmy on 2/05/01 (new). We experienced the first of 7 electrical system failures on 10/12/01. On 10/12/01 the brake light switch failed and was replaced. On each of the three following dates; 7/26/02, 6/18/03 and 7/02/03 the ignition switch was replaced after the vehicle failed to start or stopped running during operation. It was towed to a GMC dealer on each of those occasions. On 8/08/03 the vehicle again would not start and was towed to the dealer. We were told the problem this time was the battery. On 8/23/03 the fuse block was replaced after the vehicle stopped running during operation. Again towed to a dealer. Again on 10/10/03 the fuse block was replaced after the vehicle stopped running during operation. Again towed to a dealer.
