Windshield wipers work sometimes but more then often do not work. I called GMC as there was a recall but they tell me my VIN number was not part of the recall. The recall was a month before I bought the truck. Why do I have the same problem but I'm not part of the recall? on the brakes- it was recalled for the antilock on a volunteer basis. I took it in for the computer adjustment as per the recall fix, they said it was done and a week later, on the same road it first happened to me, a light changed, I hit the brakes (not hard) and antilock kicked in and the pedal went to the floor and I almost crashed as my heart went into my stomach. Long before the recall, I had my truck into GMC many times for brake problems and even wrote letters that describe the recall long before I know there was one! GM says my truck brakes are fixed but they're not. The wipers they won't cover. Other then these problems and that the engine idles rough and is rough at low speeds, I really like my Jimmy!!

Windshield wipers intermittently stop working during operation. Dealer / manufacturer notified, and informed consumer that vehicle was not covered under recall due to VIN.
Recall # 98V150001 GM/windshield wiper wiring; the windshield wipers quit working in the middle of operation. Problem has gotten so bad that the wsindshield wipers do not come on at all. Problem was reported to the dealership. Consumer was told that truck was not included in recall due to VIN. Wiper module was replaced at owner's expense.

While driving with windshield wipers working windshield wipers would fail without warning or notice. This is an intermitten wiper problem. So far has happened 3 times. The wiper failure problem would cause poor visibility for the driver. Last time it happened was in a snow storm on 12/26/99. Been in contact with dealer & wiper circuit board was cracked. Dealership & manufacturer indicated that vehicle was not included in recall (#98V150000 & #98V150001) due to being out of manufacturer's date. Owner feels vehicle should be repaired free of charge since experiencing the same windshield problem as mentione din the recall.
Windshield wipers intermittently stop working when operating. This condition causes poor visibility. Dealer notified of recall # 98V -150 000 GMC / windshield wiper wiring. Dealer informed consumer vehicle was not part of recall due to VIN.
Consumer received recal 98V043 for the windshield wiper motor failure. Recall repairs were done. However, the problem continues. Windshield wipers do not operate properly. Dealer has been contacted.
Windshield wiper motor failed prior to recall, consumer replaced unit, however denied reimbursement becaused dealer did not previously replace defective unit.
While drving vehicle about 50 mph windshield wipers stopped working without a reason. Happened three times. Also engine went out while driving vehicle about 45 mph.
Whenever driving in rainy or snowy weather & have the windshield wipers on, they periodically stop for no reason. Had called the dealer & the mechanic said that repair could not be done at this time.
Windshield wipers: When driving wipers will cut off, have to turn switch off and turn back on to get them to start. This is an intermittent problem. Causes very poor visibility, especially in hard rain. Took to dealer with no results. Module and pulse wiper control was replaced.
