This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
I have had Ford and monroe dealers look at the brakes, they dont know what is wrong with them. Some times the brakes lock up, some times the pedal goes to the floor, almost causing accidents. Twice the front rotors have turned cherry red. GMC dealer, tully GMC in nashua nh, and Chevy dealer, talarico in milford nh, refused to investigate the problems. Brake pads and rotors need work just 4,000 miles after being done already. I feel this is dangerous, and no one knows how to fix it!!
ABS brake problem; on regular road conditions, during normal braking when applying the brakes, the pedal goes to the floor with no resistance. Twice rotors have been replaced, about 1 year ago, again on 9/20/97. Experienced 2 brake failures since that time.
Vehicle has ABS brakes. Owner indicates that he has excessive brake wear. Also, outer brake pad is thicker than inner. As a result, the wear detector cannot identify brake problem.
During vehicle operation. The brakes are noisy, and the pedal is hard. A complete brake loss has been experienced twice. The front brakes and, rotors have been replaced.
