Recall 99V193000/ABS: While traveling on the street at 40 mph; brakes were applied to slow vehicle down. Because of vehicle in front, more pressure was needed to be applied on the pedal. This caused brake pedal to go to the floor, and extended stopping distance occurred which resulted in a collision. Vehicle towed to dealer's shop. However, recall notice received after the accident.
When brakes were applied under normal braking conditions pedal became hard. To stop, driver had to put vehicle into park which caused a collision and resulted in injuries. Consumer has recently received recall notice 99V193/ABS brakes.
It requires too much pressure on brake pedal to stop vehicle adequately. During an emergency stop driver has to push on brake pedal with all his might to stop vehicle. Vehicle was taken to dealership. Problem has not been corrected.
I was pulling into my driveway, when the engine started running eratically. When I started to slow down I noticed the brake pedal was hard and it was very difficult to stop. Fortunetly I was going slow or I would have literally gone through my garage. I was able to get the car to a mechanic who replaced the egr valve.
When ABS brakes are engaged to slow down or stop vehicle, they would fail to do so. When one of the brakes loses traction & the ABS is engaged, the other brakes would release. Been to dealership & was informed that ABS brakes work okay. Vehicle was not test driven or even looked at. Vehicle was involved in an accident due to lack of braking power.

Was exiting a city four lane road to turn right into a mall parking lot. As I began to turn and applied the brakes, the braking system made a noise and failed. I ended up going straight, over a curb and down an embankment. The vehicle did not roll over but I damaged a tire, a rim and some of the lower front components.
The vehicle is 5 years old, and the brake pedal just recently started going to the floor when pressed. Initially they hold for about 1 second, and then go to the floor. The truck has 48,600 miles on it and the front brakes have been repaired twice already, both times the brake pads were replaced and the rotors were turned.
Recall 99I006. After the recall was performed, braking problem became worse. ABS light stayed on, and braking was difficult. Dealer would only repair the vehicle at the owner's expense. Manufacturer has been notified.
When brakes were applied on rocky pavements pedal went to the floor, causing extended stopping distance, resulting in a minor collision. Dealer and manufacturer have been notified.
My S. Jimmy required new front brakes at approx. 18,000 miles which my warranty covered. Know I find out at 35,567 miles I had to replace my front brakes again due to the ABS braking system that wears the brakes down to replacement status, after approx. 18,000 miles. I questioned the dealership as to what was happening. The service advisor informed me that all S-Jimmy's for 1995 to current has the same problem. A defect with the ABS system is causing total front brake replacement on all these vehicles. I do not consider paying for new front brakes every 18,000 miles normal maintenance. GM should reimburse me the $177.71 and come up with a recall to fix this defect.
9335-99-I-006-000: While driving 45mph & making a gradual stop at traffic light brake pedal went straight to the floorboard, causing consumer to slide through the light and rear end the vehicle in front. No injuries. Dealer was contacted and the ABS braking system was replaced.
Intermittently when the brakes are applied pedal becomes hard and goes to the floor, resulting in extended stopping, and a loud noise is heard. Dealer has replaced the pads three times. Dealer is inspecting vehicle. Manufacturer has been notified.
