Gas gauge unknowingly doesn't work correctly, driver runs out of gas, almost got into major accident. Luckily car behind me didn't slam into me. But it almost caused a chain reaction of rear-endings. Failure is defective gas gauge/pump. Incorrect info given to dash board telling driver is at 1/4 tank of gas but the realty is that the sending unit is giving bad info and the tank is possibly on empty. No light comes on. Doing an internet search reveals GM's part is known to fail frequently and is poorly designed.
