There are TSB's for several GMC cars that list this as a safety issue, as it can cause a fire.
The window control switch on the driver side, will stop working, or work when it damn well pleases if it gets moisture inside. The window will go down without a problem, pray to the gods that it goes back up.
Can you imagine going thru a drive thru bank, fast food place or, whatever, roll down the window, finish you business, then spend the next ten minutes trying to get your window closed.
Heaven help us if it is snowing, or raining.
