- Summary
- THIS PRELIMINARY INFORMATION COMMUNICATION PROVIDES INFORMATION TO THE TECHNICIAN ON THE PROPER USE OF THE LOWER TIMING GEAR TENSIONER HOLDING TOOL (EN48464). BEFORE USING THE TOOL, MAKE SURE THAT THE TOOL HANDLE AND THREADED ROD UNSCREW FROM THE WEDGE. IF THE TOOL HANDLE UNSCREWS FROM THE THREADED ROD, LEAVING THE THREADED ROD SCREWED INTO THE WEDGE APPLY THREAD LOCKER TO THE THREADS OF THE TOOL HANDLE AND SCREW IT ONTO THE THREADED ROD TO PREVENT IT FROM COMING OFF IN THE FUTURE. THIS SHOULD BE DONE BEFORE REPLACING THE CYLINDER HEAD BY FOLLOWING THE LATEST VERSION OF 06-06-01-017. THE PROCEDURE FOR INSTALLING THE WEDGE TOOL IN THE LATEST VERSION OF 06-06-01-017 ADVISES THAT THE WEDGE SHOULD BE LIGHTLY SEATED USING A COUPLE OF VERY LIGHT TAPS WITH A SMALL PLASTIC OR BRASS HAMMER. ALTHOUGH THESE SHOULD BE LIGHT TAPS, THEY SHOULD ALSO BE SOLID TAPS TO ENSURE THAT THE WEDGE IS SEATED PROPERLY.
