This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
I am the original owner of a 2000 GMC jimmy Envoy. I smelled burning plastic as I was driving and was told by another motorist that I had no brake lights. The lights came on and stayed on and then they would not work. I took the vehicle to a local repair shop to replace the turn signal & hazard warning switch. This corrected the brake light problem. After reading about the reason for the recall of these switches, I disassembled the old switch only to find that it also had brass contacts for the hazard warning lamps. This was supposedly replaced in 2003 by a dealer. Replacing it with the same part that was recalled!
