- This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician of binding when turning the steering wheel after removing and reinstalling the intermediate shaft for a service procedure. There is an intermediate shaft nose plug in the upper intermediate shaft that can drop down into the lower intermediate shaft and then into the joint when the shafts are separated. This plug is for initial assembly and not needed after a service was performed. Inspect the upper and lower intermediate shaft for the nose plug and if found remove and discard prior to reassemble of the upper and lower intermediate shaft.
