After a year and half ant at 30k miles, my gmc canyon would sometimes not start. I would wait ten mins(exactly 10 mins everytime) and try again and it would start. I thought it was a fluke, but it kept happening. Sometimes twice in one day. Sometimes I would go a whole month and never have it happen. I looked online and called repair people and nobody could tell me the problem. I brought the truck in a couple of times but they could never tell me anything was wrong with it because it worked for them. 6 years later I finally stumbled across the right term. GM passkey security. I thought it had to do with the engine, not some security issue. It's past warranty now and I don't have the money to replace the passkey sensor which is what people suggest online (just to have it fail again in a couple of years). There is also a ton of people that talk about how to make homemade solutions to bypass it, funny stuff. GMC, please remove your silly passkey security systems from your cars. Its just another thing that will go wrong, and people who steal cars can get around it very easily. I will never buy another GM car until they remove this.
