Recall number N232404980 has not been resolved yet on my 2016 GMC Acadia. Have not been contacted since the first letter from the manufacturer was sent out. Anytime I ask a dealership if the recall can be fixed I'm always told they are unable to get the part.
GM safety recall N232404980 received in June, 2023, states that fragments could may pass through the air bag which may result in injury or death to the occupants. As of 12/19/2023, GM is still saying that the parts to repair aren't available. Not acceptable.

I received notice of the recall on the airbag of my vehicle. I contacted the dealership and was informed I should contact GMC if I was concerned for my safety. I contacted GMC, explained my case and now several months down the road and I am still driving a vehicle that could explode in my face, quite literally, if anything happens. Although I can control my driving actions, I cannot control others. And as I try to be safe, it does not always allow for that concern. I bought this vehicle for my grandchild, and I am still limiting the use with her in it and trying to use other vehicles to protect her. This has caused more issues for my family than it has been worth owning this vehicle and GMC was not willing to assist in any way!!

Manufacturer Recall NumberN232404980 NHTSA Recall Number23V334 Recall StatusRecall Incomplete, remedy not yet available Summary General Motors has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 2014-2017 model year Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, and GMC Acadia vehicles. In these vehicles, the front-driver airbag inflator may contain a supplier manufacturing defect that may result in inflator rupture during deployment. Safety Risk An in??'ator rupture may cause metal fragments to pass through the airbag and into the vehicle interior, which may result in injury or death to vehicle occupants. General Motors has failed to repair this in a timely manner. My vehicle is unsafe to drive, is a risk to myself and my children. I cannot afford to pay my loan for the car that I-??m not supposed to drive and buy another safe vehicle. Gmc has let this go for months. It is now November they refuse to offer a loaner or any kind of discount on a new vehicle, my vehicle has lost trade in value and is basically a pile of junk in my driveway. I want this issue remedied immediately. I have contacted numerous employees and service places and nobody can repair the air bag. I want my vehicle replaced!
In June 2023, I was notified of recall N232404980. The reason for recall is, a driver-??s-side front airbag inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants, resulting in serious injury or death. It has been 5 months and the manufacturer has no current plan in place to replace the driver-??s airbag module. After speaking with a GMC Customer Assistance Center representative today, 11/17/2023, I was told that there is no estimated time when the repair will be available. Based on the possibility of death, five months and no plan for when a repair/replacement will be available feels negligent and as though the repairs are not being completed in a reasonable time.

This has been a safety recall since May 2023, I have returned to the dealer each month since then and have been given the same answer that there is no remedy at the moment. So I asked to get a loaner vehicle until they can fix this and they said they cannot. So I asked them, "to be clear, there is nothing you can do with a known safety recall and if i or my wife get injured its on us?" They continued that there is nothing that can be done. This is not satisfactory to knowingly allow their vehicles to be driven unsafely for this length of time. I will definitely be suing if anything happens to me or my family.
This recall has been out for months with no remedy. The website says, " An in??'ator rupture may cause sharp metal fragments to pass through the airbag and into the vehicle interior at high speed, striking you or your loved ones, which may result in injury or death to passengers." This is unacceptable. It is dangerous to drive my car right now. I need someone (GM or Takata) to provide a loaner car until they can provide the fix to make my car safe once again.
