I am a claims adjuster. A customer was in an accident in April 2021 and the Air Bags in her 2014 GMC Acadia did not deploy. Three months later, when traveling over some Rail Road Tracks, the driver's Air Bag Deployed without warning. Vehicle was taken to a GMC dealership and diagnosed. Dealership said that from the accident, the Air Bag armed itself and there was no warranty coverage.
Air Bags should either deploy as needed or not at all. They should not deploy at some random time for hitting a bump. This seems like a defect that needs to get exposed. There has been a recall on this vehicle for issues with the Head Air bag and for Seat Belts. It seems to the entire Restraint system on this vehicle has issues and people are at risk.
