The howl occurs when first started driving at 2600 to 3200 RPM. It will reoccur after being shut down 45 minutes or longer. Less than that it does not happen.
1) revving engine only it does not occur 2) it last for only about 2 minutes 3) outside or engine temp has no affect 4) if you start the engine, put it in park and hold it there for at least 1 minute it will not howl. If you do this in reverse or neutral it will howl. 5) have driven other 2014 Acadias and they also howl but 2015s do not. 6) no oil leaks
To me it appears that what ever it is gets lubed after a short time of driving and then the oil runs away from the area after setting 45 minutes.
GM says they don't have a clue and I cannot find anything on the internet about it.
