Was driving down highway 60-65 mph. The "Engine Speed is Reduced" message illuminated on the dash & the car would not longer accelerate. I had to pull over to the shoulder & noticed thick white smoke coming out of tail pipe. There was also a strong odor of gas in the cabin of the vehicle. Gas was dripping from the tailpipe as noted by two different highway patrolman who had stopped to check on us.

The vehicle had to be towed an hour back to the city. The dealership gates were all closed & locked since it was a Sunday evening. The service advisor is telling me the fuel injection line needs replaced, and it is NOT covered until my drivetrain warranty. He said that warranty expired at 50,800 miles. Figure that one out??? However, the fuel injection system is not covered under the 100K mi drivetrain warranty by GM for some odd reason.

By the time you figure the repair, the cost of towing, rental vehicle this week- overall cost exceed $2,000. Not a huge amount, but extremely inconvenient & expensive when you didn't budget for that repair! It was a big safety concern with the smoke and fumes. I was like something was stuck in the engine when it was idling rough. And a huge safety issue for other vehicles swerving around us when we stalled.
