Both the headlight assemblies on my 2010 Acadia GMC Have been replace 2 X already. I am looking at a third time to replace. I have brought this to the local dealers attention. No resolution to the ongoing problem. Numerous others seem to have the problem. No solution or help from GM or dealer on the issue. Desperate as I believe the safety and the possibility of fire is a major concern with the melting of the headlight assembly.
My GMC has been a nightmare since we got it. One thing after another. Most recent problem is the headlight wiring is all melted. We originally could not believe how often we had to replace bulbs and then the whole light. It was getting expensive. Then we went for an oil change and the attendant said they took a pic for me and the wires were all melted. they said they had seen this on several of the Acadia's. I keep meeting more and more people with this problem. Ridiculous and unsafe. At this point GMC has lost our trust and my husband comes from a long line of GM OWNERS.
We are stunned to say the least. We noticed today that one of the head lamps were out so we went directly to the dealer to get it fixed. We were bowled over to hear that the whole assembly was melted, not only the one that was out but also the one that is still working. When they told us it would be $2500 we gasped.
Why would it burn out? This is definitely a design flaw and GMC should do something about it. It is one thing to have such a problem but to have such an overly exorbitant cost to replace the whole assembly is beyond belief. One is bad enough but TWO?. Shame on you GMC. This will definitely influence us when we trade out car in.
THIS VEHICLE HAD A RECALL IN JUNE OF 2013 TO REPLACE THE GASKET AND A REINFORCEMENT PLATE AROUND THE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS. THE DEALER HAD CHARGED ME $106.00 TO PULL THE BUMPER COVER OFF AND REPLACE THE BULB PREVIOUS TO THE RECALL. GM NEVER SENT ME BACK A REIMBURSEMENT CHECK. AFTER THE RECALL REPAIR I HAD AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH THE BULB GOING OUT. MY DEALER JUST CHARGED ME FOR THE BULB A COUPLE OF TIMES. NOW THE BULB HAS OVERHEATED AND MELTED THE SOCKET AND BURNT A BIG HOLE IN THE BACK OF THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY.
I FEEL THIS RECALL WAS NOT REPAIRED PROPERLY AND THAT MANUFACTURER NEEDS TO STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND FIX THIS PROBLEM BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT OR A VEHICLE CATCHES FIRE. I SPOKE WITH A GM SUPPORT AGENT AND THEY WERE WILLING TO PAY 60 % OF THE COST. THAT'S $400.00 OUT OF MY POCKET. WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO PAY FOR THEIR MISTAKES?
AFTER READING THE COMPLAINTS ONLINE I SEE THAT I AM NOT ALONE AND THAT THE PROBLEM IS REOCCURRING AFTER REPAIRS. THIS IS A BAND-AID FIX AND SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE TO RECALL A RECALL. I URGE ANYONE ELSE TO CALL THE NHTSA OR THE FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION THAT HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM.
