The contact owns a 2010 GMC Acadia. While pulling into the driveway, the vehicle was placed in park. The contact attempted to open the liftgate and it closed by accident. The contact attempted to re-open the liftgate, but it did not open. The contact noticed a "liftgate open" message illuminated by the gears, which caused the interior lighting to remain illuminated while driving. The dealer was contacted (quirk Ford, 333 memorial dr, chicopee, MA 01020) and stated that the vehicle was not listed in a recall. The contact was advised to keep all the paperwork for possible reimbursement purposes should she decide to have the vehicle repaired. The manufacturer was not aware of the failure. There were no recalls associated with the vehicle. The failure mileage was 120,000.
