Vehicle was southbound on county road and attempted to make a right turn at the intersection, when the car struck the South embankment of the T intersection, as driver was unable to navigate the turn. None of the side or front airbags in the car deployed as a result of the crash. I am also unsure if the seat belt had operated correctly (seat belt was being worn at the time of the crash). The driver's head hit the side window and as a result he sustained a head injury and an eye injury resulting in optic nerve damage and complete loss of vision in the eye. I understand there were problems with the airbags on these vehicles with a possible recall issued. I do have all the corresponding accident reports, medical reports, etc.

I purchased this vehicle used about 4 months ago. On 8-15-19, I activated the on star and was told about a recall for the air bag and the seat belt tensioner. I contacted a local dealership and was told that the recall had been closed. Can they actually refuse to "fix" this?

My wife fell asleep ran off the road struck a utility pole and a large dirt embankment. The air bags did not deploy nor did the belt tensioners, she hit the steering column so hard she it broke the column and broke her sternum. Our granddaughter was in the front passenger seat the air bag nor the tennsioners deployed resulting her back being broken in two places and also her foot was broken. I contacted General Motors and they sent a man to download the computer information they sent me a copy of the info and later contacted me saying the info showed everything was working properly. Pryor to the accident I had the auto in for the recall on this problem. I also had it in for another recall for the headlights and they had to remove a large part of the front to do the repair and done a poor job of putting it back together I returned it and they finally got it right, in the mean time the service air bag light came on and they repaired that.later after the accident I went back to the dealer and questioned the body shop manager about putting it back together properly and then told him about the accident then he had nothing else to say. The auto was a total loss after a length of time wife and granddaughter got out of hospital. This car was recalled for this very reason. My insurance company paid my granddaughter $95,000 for her injuries and commented that they would probably sue GM to get that back.

The passenger sensing system is not working properly. Sometimes it will indicate that it is on and other times it will indicate that it is off even when someone who weighs over 140 pounds sits on the passenger seat. It won't indicate that the person doesn't have their seatbelt on. Even if driving and person has been sitting, it won't turn on. If an accident occurs the airbags will not go off because it doesn't sense correctly.

5 year old child was in his 5 point harness child seat using the anchor system. He reached back and grabbed the vehicle seat belt that was not in use and wrapped it around his neck. The seat belt locked and started to choke him. We were unable to loosen it to get him out. Luckily we were pulling into our driveway when this happened and were able to get scissors and tools from the house. I held the seat belt away from his neck while my husband tried to detach the seat belt from the floor of the car. Being unsuccessful and our son starting to cry, we had to cut the seat belt to free our child. If we were not driving into our driveway, injuries would have been severe due to no possible way to loosen or unlock the belt.

The contact owned a 2008 GMC Acadia. While driving approximately 55mph in rainy weather, the vehicle hydro-planed. The driver was unable to maintain control of the vehicle and crashed into a tree. A child was in the second row of the vehicle secured in a child restraint behind the driver seat. The seatbelt did not restrain the child restraint and was flipped upon impact. The child sustained injuries to the temporal bone causing permanent loss of her right ear. The passenger sustained injuries to the neck, right foot, and head. The manufacturer advised that the on-star system failed to recognize that the vehicle was involved in a crash because the system could not detect a crash in a rural area. The child restraint seat was undamaged. The vehicle was destroyed. The contact locate a recall in which he believed affected his vehicle (NHTSA campaign id number: 10V375000-seat belts) and was the reason the seat belt did not restrain the child occupant. The contact did not confirm if his VIN was included. A police report was available. The failure and current mileage was 35,000.

Seat belt flaw put child in danger. The middle third row seat belt would not unlatch; my six year old became tangled in it and had to be cut out, it was cutting off his air supply - after the incident, I looked in the manual which said there was a hidden key but I could not find such a key. If I had been involved in a crash or had to throw on the brakes suddenly, he could have been killed. After our failed attempts to free him while pulled over on the side of the road, I drove to the nearest house and borrowed scissors to cut him free. I called GMC to report this and they said they had no complaints on this issue. The middle belt extends from the roof down to the seat. He obviously pulled it out enough to wrap it around himself one time and then through wiggling caused it to tighten and then as he struggled to get out, it kept tightening. When I finally pulled over to help him, the belt was so tight I could not even get a finger between him and the belt. He was gasping for air and crying. This belt needs a regular belt latch.
