I have had this van in the shop probably at least 20 times for various reasons...7 of the times it was for the same reason and the problem is STILL not resolved. It makes this HORRIBLE grinding sound when turning the steering wheel when it is cold. The colder it is outside, the louder the grinding sound...warming up the van first does not help either. I had the struts, strut plates, etc all replaced.. After extended warranty, I have spent at least $600 trying to fix it....nothing has worked!
Also, have had to jump off the battery 4 times in the past 3 weeks. Had battery checked twice and was told battery was fine, just needed to charge. FINALLY just had the battery replaced anyway....as the guy was putting the new battery in, my headlights and wipers flickered on and off....keep in mind, my keys were not even in the ignition. The guy then told me I have an obvious electrical issue....GREAT! ONE MORE THING to go wrong with this POS.
On another note, Also have had the transmission fixed ($1500), luckily it was still under extended warranty at the time. The coils misfired on a long road trip (18 hours one way), the windshield cleaner stopped working on the same trip, not good when the windshield kept icing over while driving down the interstate.
One door randomly opens and closes on its own, wont open often...a REAL PIA.. the interior lights have often flickered on and off randomly. If I did not know better I would think my van was possessed.
Unfortunately, we still have another 2 yrs worth of payments on this POS. We cant afford to be upside down and get a new car...Plus hubby's car is a POS too. We really got screwed on both purchases (which were made on the same day, at the same dealership)
I will NEVER buy another Ford!
