3.8 liter. I have read that Ford does not want to cover intake melt down issues because it does not cause a driving hazard. Someone needs to inform them and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, because when air leaks from the intake cover. You lose air to the brake booster, and your brarkes fail. The motor will stop running and you hope you don"t stop with another vehicle on the road. The Ford dealer here in Puerto Rico tell me the cost for both bottom and top intake cover cost $2,000.00 list price. And Ford says this isn"t a hazard ? I fixed the problem using a $3.00 plastic epoxy to fill in the hole on the top cover. But who fixes the emotional stress this causes as it did when I almost hit the car in front of me in a 10 miles per hour traffic jam. Say your at 55 mph down a hill slope expressway, what will you do?. Well let me inform the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.(NHTSA) Phone number 1- 888-327-4236. or www.nhtsa.dot.gov/hotline.
