ABS light comes on, ABS system not active, occurs when car and outside temperatures are hot. Diagnostic indicates ECM board for ABS is bad. Current recall for brake pressure differential deactivation switch had been completed. Braking distance suddenly increased.
The contact owns a 2002 Ford Windstar. The contact was driving 35 mph when the brakes were applied and there was a delay in response time. Neither the dealer or manufacturer was contacted nor was the vehicle repaired or inspected. The failure mileage was 100,000.
All the time when I'm driving the ABS/brake light stays on, the vehicle does not stop properly. The #10 and 15 fuse blows out regularly and causes the air, odometer, overdrive to not work. I smell burning electricity, and see smoke coming from hood while driving. Some morning my van doesn't start due to battery drainage. Check engine light will not stay off causing it not pass inspection. Brake fluid leaking. I truly believe that the brake fluid leak is causing these problems, and it looks like I'm not the only person. With the speed control recall the ABS module and ECM needed to be included.

The ABS and brake dash warning lights intermittently come on, especially after the vehicle warms up or I hit a puddle and water splashes underneath. This has been going on for years. Firestone has inspected the vehicle multiple times and cannot find anything wrong. They are again suggesting to flush the brake system and do an engine diagnostic (again at cost of $200). While there has been no crash or damage I am in constant fear that there will be as the brakes might fail but I'd never know it since the warning lights are almost always on and repair work hasn't been able to turn them off.
ABS warning light comes on at various times. Sometimes resets with restart of engine, sometimes not. Vehicle experiences extended braking distances when ABS light is illuminated.
On a 2002 Ford Windstar ABS and brake light come on intermittently and render ABS inoperative increasing stopping distance in emergency situations. Problem has been recurring on and off since I purchased the vehicle in 2006. When purchased vehicle had approx. 36,000 miles currently 100,000 and still having same safety issues.
The ABS light turned on as well as the brake light turns on and stays on. This started to happen about a month ago after I had other repairs done as well as two recalls that were looked at. When I went back to the dealer and told them about the ABS light, they told me that it was not part of the recall and it would cost me approximately $700 for the repairs.
ABS, traction control, brake lights go on and off intermittently. Ford dealership can't seem to fix. I've had it 'fixed' several times, but in a couple months the same problem returns.
ABS warning lamp on. Dealer spent considerable time testing each wheel sensor, unable to verify cause. Code given was C1155: Lf anti lock brake sensor (electrical/static). Later replaced all 4 wheel sensors with no luck of fixing. Replacement of ECM necessary to clear mil.
ABS brake light comes on all the time when I'm driving the 2002 Ford Windstar sel. It started last year. I've replaced all the pads & shoes and bled the brake fluid. But it's still on. I've read many complaints about this online and wanted to add my complaint to the list hoping for a Ford recall.
Cruise control switch recently replaced brake fluid was leaking may have faulty switch or master cylinder damaged during installation causing fluid leak that is highly flammable causing fire or smoke from 2002 Windstar master cylinder and brake booster were faulty.
Braking distance suddenly increased, under category: Service brakes, hydraulic. My brake light and ABS light comes on. According to the mechanic I had the sensor replaced in this unit, and not sure what they fixed the second time. Both mechanics told me I was leaking brake fluid too, I have not been able to add brake fluid myself, I can't reach the reservoir. Brake and ABS lights still comes on and very seldom does the lights go off. I had to have a vehicle inspection this past year, and the first time it did not pass because the light was on. Thankfully the second time I went in for the inspection it was not on. However, I am concerned with this years inspection.
2002 Ford Windstar. ABS and brake light continually on. Braking distance substantially increased..I feel it is very unsafe as I Transport 3 young children. I recently had this vehicle in for the rear axle recall and was given a rental minivan. The braking on that van was very much better than on my van. I am worried. Ford dealer told me he wouldn't fix without recall number. I would like to know when this will be issued. Please help.
I took my van in to do the recalls. Well they said they saw nothing wrong with the most last 2 recent recalls. 2010 and 2011 dealing with front end and rear end. My question is if it doesn't look broken they don't have to fix it" I thought these parts were manufactured wrong, right? now how often should I take my van in to be inspected" at any given moment it could break and my 4 kids and I could go tumbling down the highway. They did do the speed odometer (which I'm watching closely for ABS/brake light to come on) and in process for child safety attachments. The anderson Ford dealership in cleveland tx will not do the other 2 recalls because it does not look broken, is this right? anyways ABS/brake light remains on and off all the time on my Ford Windstar. Will have it check for brake fluid leakage running down to components.
