Failure of one spring came without warning. Dealer stated that failure at 55,000 miles is not normal. A recall had been issued for the same problem in earlier years for Windstars, but none yet for 2000. Repairs cost $850.
We contacted Ford, but they will not cover cost without a recall being issued - maybe we will be the first to register a complaint. We have kept the spings in case we need to show someone. The metal clearly failed through shearing, not rust, etc.
