While traveling approximately 5 mph brakes failed. Consumer was able to stop vehicle without incident. Component that failed was brake caliper. This vehicle was not affected by recall 98I003000. Please provide any additional information / attachments.
ABS brake lights were on for a year. Dealer could not find problem. In December, while brak pedal went to floor at 15 mph, dealer replaced hydraulic unit. 4 days later, pedal went to floor again.also, dealer replaced front caliper.
Vehicle has been in the shop seven times in a two and a half years. Repairs included transmission replacement, brake calipers replacement, and the electrical system problems.
The consumer has been experiencing problems with brake calipers. When applying the brakes, they make a grinding sound. The defects are described in recall number 98I-003.000 and investigation number IE97054. The manufacturer has been contacted.
