We opened the passenger side door to load and when we tried to close the door it wouldn't close. It just bounced back open. When we took a closer look we noticed that that the latch on the door (that is supposed to close over the bar to hold the door closed) was closed already and locked into place. We tried pressing the unlock button to get it to release, but that didn't work. Eventually my husband had to pry it open with a screwdriver so we could leave the parking lot, but then the latch wouldn't close again. So now the door closes but stays loose. If you try opening it with the handle, there is no need. We have a real suicide door. When I called Ford for the part, they want to charge us $127.58 for a LATCH. Which we then have to install if we don't want to pay the $400.00 in labor. Yay us. After replacing the transmission 4 times and having everything under the sun fixed to try to get the Check Engine light to go off, this seems to be the icing on the cake.
We are trying to be patient and don't want a new car payment, not likely. We will not be purchasing a Ford ever again. Toyota...here we come.
