My wife was driving home from work and heard a snapping noise. Luckily she was able to get home without any problem. It could have been much worst.

Online there is a recall for 95-98 ford windstars and it was extended for 10 yrs from the recall date so I took my van to get tires fixed due to the fact that there was holes wore on the inside of my tires and they were ready to pop and they told me both of my springs were broke which is what caused my tires to do this and i found online that there was a recall for this so when i called about this they said my vehicle vin wasn't on the list cause my springs were made somewhere else whats the use of having a recall on something and its doing what the recall says it will do but they wont fix it due to my springs were made somewhere else and no one wants to do anything about it on the recall it don't say these certain vin # are only recalled or if your springs were made here your covered under recall thats a bunch of bull its doing what the recall says it will do well i know one thing i will never own another ford Windstar if im gonna keep having problems with it thats on the recalls and i have several recalls on my van but since my vin dont come up they wont fix it even though i have 3 out of the 5 recall problems

Stepdaughter brought my POS windstar in to the dealership where she worked to have the Cam and Crank sensors worked on due to multiple check engine codes. While the tech was under the vehicle he noticed a broken coil spring that was ready to cut into the sidewall of the front tire. We were preparing for a vacation and it appeared that we were going to be stuck with a ginormous repair bill and possibly a delay to the start of our trip. The tech thought to check for a possible recall on the issue and found that the springs were in fact covered by a safety recall. Our only cost was for some incidental parts. This was a potentially deadly problem which we were totally unaware of. Thankfully we had some inside help in the matter. How many people have had tires cut down from this problem? How many people have paid full price to replace the springs because their dealer didn't check for a recall or charged it to the customer anyway? This one is scary.
