1995 Ford Windstar engine head gasket failure - Ford will not admint to a defect in quality. This van now sits in my driveway for over a year and no one will fixit for under $3500. Problem is that because of the defects in this van, the value of it is $1000. I also put two transmittions into it, water pumps, thermostats, radiator and no one informed me of a potental defect with the head gaskets
The entire engine was replaced, however the vehicle continued to have engine problems, the transmission side pan gasket, heat, power window, defroster, door switch assembly, were all replaced, the dome light would stay on continuously, and the right caliper was leaking.
This vehicle has a very questionable reliability. Premature engine and transmission failures. Ford should do something to compensate car owners for their lack of quality control.
The vehicle will not go into gear once you come to complete stop. Also, surges into gear when you give it gas from a complete stop. Forward clutch piston has failed. Has this part been recalled yet?
While driving at any speed up hill and with no warning transmission will decelerate, even when foot is on accelerator. It will be hard forconsumer to control vehicle. Dealer notified.

Consumer states that the transmission was slipping and would go out of gear, the dealer rebuilt the entire transmission, consumer stated that the failure was due to a faulty piston.
When emerging from an automated car wash in neutral, the car automatically shifted into drive and was propelled forward. This action culminated in a crash with a metal pole, resulting in severe property damage and slight personal injury.

Torque converter assembly has a grove in it that causes seal to fail, resulting in loss of transmission fuel. Transmission overheated, almost causing a fire.
While driving heard a popping noise/vehicle will run roughly, and would not go into reverse.contacted mechanic.outer head gasket had blown.also, replaced transmission.
When coming to a stop vehicle shifts to neutral. When consumer shifts back to drive, it jumps to 2nd drive. Dealer determined that transmission needed to be replaced.
While driving 30 mph, transmission failed, no prior indication that something was wrong. This is third transmission in vehicle.. consumer stated vehicle also experienced 2 blown head gaskets, and an oil leak.
The Windstar was at a full stop at a stop sign. As the gas was applied steadily to start out a loud noise was heard and the vehicle failed to move foreward. Transmssion failed and would only work in reverse. We backed the van off the road and had it towed to the dealership. We were instructed that the transmittion would have to be replaced. It is the third transmittion that has been put in this van.
