In March of 2000 I brought this van from J&R used cars it just had a new engine block put in by latham Ford, I got the van with 62566 miles on it with the new engine installed. Now after only 32957 miles on this engine the block goes again just after the warranty expires how funny I really think these engines should last longer then that. So now I am stuck with this broken down van just after 30,000 miles thats not fair these engines are not right please help me anyway you can thank you.
Had head gasket and value gasket leaks in 2000 at ~63000 miles - replaced. Cam sensory also replaced at that time. In for service last month - multiple services performed including oxygen sensor, fuel injector, plugs/wires. Now engine is dead. Nlm
Per Ford - this known defect is campaign 00M09-the warranty had to be extended twice, however since my defect did not occur prior to 2/28/2002-end of 2nd extension of warranty, they will not replace defected part. I now have to pay $1267 to have done. I have owned car less than one year.
Dealer reports that "M" service bulletin issued by Ford in July 2002 for head gaskets but won't honor claim due to time expired 7 years/ 100,000 miles. I dispute expiration date to be until 12/31/2002. No safety defect listed.
The engine has been replaced on two occasions at the consumers expense, the first occasion occurred when a rod blew, the second occuurrence the head gasket blew, Ford will not assist consumer at all even though they have a notification and extended coverage offer for the same problem.

Engine head gasket replaced at 47,000 miles, engine timing cover gasket replaced at 92,000, engine failed (rod bearings, crankshaft, and rod) shortly thereafter shutting down braking and steering systems in vehicle. Have been told this was due to coolant leaking into engine oil system from previously mentioned problems and is being experienced by many owners due to poor engine design. Engine failure had the potential to cause accident had the driving situation been different when it occurred.
Surpassed Ford expanded warantee by a little over 2 months. Ford has refused to consider payment or partial payment for repair- even though the mileage is relatively low and the product defect well known. No safety defec tstated.
While driving 65 mph and without warning vehicle made a popping noise, and the engine shutdown. Driver was able to drive vehicle to side of road. Dealer has been notified.

I also would like to file acomplaint on smart choice my extended service agreement co.. in March of last year they put in a engine in this van. At the time they gave me a choice if Ford put the engine in and supplied the, smart choice would only pay $2800 on repairs. If I let smart choice supply the engine they would pay for Ford putting the engine in, and the a car rental until it was completed. So my ouestion to them was would it be a warrnity on the engine they supplied. They said yes 12mos, or 12,000 miles. So I said ok I would go with smart choice. 11months later the engine blows I take it back to Ford, they in turn talks to my ins. Smart choice, Ford was inform I did not have a warrnity because my ins. Had ended lasy June. That's 3 months after the engine was put in. I talked to Ford, and ask them since this was a whole different engine, and since it was the same problem that they had recalls on could they fix it under the recall. They said no because they had did a recall on my old engine that they could not do it to this engine. So I called smart choice back and receive the vin3 from the they had Ford put in it came invalid and Ford said that would be against the law anyway. I believe someone is responsable for these repairs I lean to smart choice because they told me that it would be under warrinty for 12mos. Or 12,000miles.
