The interior lights do not go out when the door is closed, the vehicle has been taken to the dealer numerous times to be fixed but each time the problem returns, since the lights do not go out they drain the battery. Nlm
The electrical problem have been experienced by other Windstar users. I received this information from cartrackers. Com on their website. The lights when the door is shut closed stays on inside the van and the door ajar light stays on and turns off after you reach about 20 miles per hour and somtimes it just stays on. Please inform me of what to do in this situation and investigat any other problems that other people may have had with this van. Thank you. I look forward to a reply regarding this matter.

The brakes were repaired prior to us ever taking possesion of the vehicle, 1 week after purchase the transmissions and electrical system were under repair for 3 wks, electric sys still does not fnction properly, A/C never worked in car, brought in for repair and engine is damaged due to recall - will not be fixed for 5 to 12 weeks. I want a comparable replacement vehicle
My 1995 Windstar has had problems since day 1. paint job had to be repaired; windshield had crack..replaced; sliding door was leaking and had to be adjusted 3 times; head gasket failure; timing gasket failure; wheel bushing failure; interior parts not installed properly; ABS light/elect system failure (2X); I feel so bad about this thing I don't know what to do. Ford doesn't care. I can't sell this thing with a clear conscience....but Ford did. Can you help us!!!! there are many, many others like me. I am very concerned the tranny will go next as has been reported by so many other Windstar owners when they reach the 60-75000 mile range. In addition, the timing cover gasket costs approximately $850 to fix. I don't want to pay for this repair but neither Ford or my dealer will fix the problem. Mechanics I have spoke with said to talk with the dealer...this should not happen at such a low mileage. I believe it was happening since day one intermittantly. (I have always had antifreeze leaking on my garage floor since day 1. the dealer said it was "loose fittings". so now I am stuck with it. Help us!!!
When traveling and upon depressing the brake pedal interior lights/door lights illumnate on the dash. Consumer has contacted the dealer, dealer has yet to replace parts.
Electrical system: Chimes for door ajar, rings when doors are closed. Had been to 10 different shops for either fuse replacement or sliding door panel replacement. Also, wiring to windows goes up or down without being switched either way and dome light comes on by itself. In addition, transmissio: Worn out due to leakage (oil) from theengine head gaskets. Needed to be replaced.
In addition to the transmission failure, there have been numerous electrical problems with the heating/ ac, door locks, wipers and door sensors. My Windstar also had the defective head gasket which was part of a voluntary recall by Ford. The transmission failure of this model is well known. Additional anecdotal info can be obtained through the car trackers website on internet. The transmission failure on the 95 Windstar is a known problem at Ford, however no recall has ever been issued.
