Merely taking a seat can result in a bruised or broken coccyx. The car was parked when the incident occurred. No, the problem has not been reproduced by a dealer or independent service center. No, the component has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance reps or others. No, there are no warnings or messages. The danger is inherent in the design.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Transit connect. The contact stated that the front driver's side seat belt would not disengage from the buckle and would not retract. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis where the technician stated the seat belt mechanism would have to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 25,000.
