This failure leaves you stranded, wherever you are, no matter what time. It's just lights out. The ONLY saving grace for me was that the engine would still run so I could stay warm while the tow got to me. I really had to argue to get this replaced under warranty. 36,366 miles and dead.
It appears to me that this throttle body failure was pretty well known by the time it happened to me for the first time, but no one at Ford spoke up about it being a known problem.
