TSB Document:
Affected Component: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM:EMISSION CONTROL:CRANKCASE (PCV)
- Summary
- Some 2015-2018 Transit vehicles equipped with a 3.2L Duratorq-TDCi may exhibit an engine oil leak from the rear crankshaft seal. The Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-01 has been updated to include the correct location to apply sealant to the rear crankshaft seal. When repairing a rear crankshaft oil leak condition, a 3 mm (0.120 in) bead of Motorcraftù Silicone Gasket and Sealant TA-30 (WSE-M4G323-A4) or equivalent must be applied to the joints where the ladder frame meets the engine block. Failure to follow the updated procedure in WSM, Section 303-01 may result in a repeat oil leak at the rear of the engine.
