While having my normal 7.5k mile service, transmission fluid was seen leaking at the transmission output shaft and the yoke loose. Tech removed the front driveshaft bolts and found the yoke nut loose and letting fluid least past. He cleaned the area and retorqued the yoke nut. Reinstalled the shaft bolts and found the fluid level to be with in specs still. Service adviser brought to my attention that this had already been fixed once at 30,000 miles months before I purchase the vehicle. I purchased at 36000 miles in March 2018.
It is now needs to be replaced again. There is an open recall for Ford Transits of of my same year but not mine for this exact problem. The fix is to have the coupling replaced every 30,000 miles as there is no permeant fix at this time. My van is now at 76,062 miles. We have an extended warranty they want us to use which will cost us a deductible. This is a known issue within the 2016 Transit full size 350 vans. This van should be part of the recall. This should not have an issue this frequent on such a new van.
