Ford TSB #SSM 45979
2015 Ford Transit
TSB Document:
Affected Component: ENGINE (PWS)
- Summary
- 2015-2017 - F-SUPER DUTY, F-650/750 WITH 6.7L DIESEL AND 2015-2017 TRANSIT - 3.2L DIESEL EQUIPPED VEHICLES USE A SELECTIVE CATALYTIC REDUCTION (SCR) SYSTEM DESIGNED TO REDUCE THE VEHICLES EXHAUST EMISSIONS. THE DIESEL EXHAUST FLUID (DEF) TANK IS FILLED TO SPECIFICATION AT THE ASSEMBLY PLANT. DEALERS ARE NOT INSTRUCTED TO CHECK OR TOP OFF THE DEF FLUID ON THE PRE-DELIVERY INSPECTION (PDI) SERVICE RECORD (CHECK SHEET) AND ARE THEREFORE NOT AUTHORIZED TO TOP-OFF THE TANKS DURING PDI. THE VEHICLE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER MESSAGE CENTER IS DESIGNED TO INDICATE WHEN THE DEF IS LOW (EXHAUST FLUID LOW OR EXHAUST FLUID EMPTY). THE SCR SYSTEM SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED FOR REPAIR AT PDI ONLY IF THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER MESSAGE CENTER INDICATES THAT THERE IS DEF SYSTEM FAULT OR LOW FLUID LEVEL.
