This problem was ongoing from the time my High Pressure Fuel Pump failed at 51,000 miles, and continued up until the EGR failed completely at the 110,000 mile mark. During that time span, I kept noticing that the engine was losing coolant slowly, about 2 quarts a week. I had several dealerships look into it, and none of them could find a root cause, even though information about the problem was in Ford's OASIS system since October of 2016. I guess none of them thought to look there. It turned out that the EGR cooler, which is absolutely REQUIRED for the engine to operate, had developed an internal leak and was allowing coolant to flow into the engine intake. Once a dealership was finally able to pinpoint it, Ford denied the warranty claim, saying it was not covered in my ESP or even my basic vehicle warranty. This despite the fact that it is critical to engine operation. Labor cost to diagnose the problem was $140.00, and the part cost me $237.00. I ended up fixing it myself.
