I purchased the 2004 FORD Thunderbird Jan 2016 with 28895 miles, there is now 29195 on the odometer. The misfiring started a couple weeks ago. I am learning that this 3.9 eng. that FORD put in this vehicle has a lot of problems with coil on plug failure. I would like FORD to extend me the courtesy to extend the warranty to have this problem repaired at my FORD dealer. The cost can be as much as $1000 to $1500 dollars.

PLEASE HELP!!!! the only thing left is a class action it is so wide spread. Thank you for your consideration

This is the fifth time this 2004 Thunderbird has had to be returned to the dealer for the failure of one or more coil-on-plug ignition module. These are a known problem by Ford, but they refuse to do a simple recall. They claim the defect is not 'life threatening'. Ford has extended the warranty on these modules to 100,000 miles,----- or, 10 years from the car's in-service date. If the car's warranty on this is not over the mileage barrier, it will soon be out by the time restriction for most TB owners.

This is a warranty job, but I still loose a full day of the car and the expense of taking and retrieving it. I have now had six of the coil modules replaced. Hopefully the other two will go before my 10 years is up this fall.
