This is my mothers Thunderbird. She bought it new. The check engine light came on and we took it to advance auto to check the code. It said number 2 cylinder misfire at startup. It starts hard and smells like gasoline. We took it to the local ford dealer, Jensen, in Marshalltown, Iowa. They said the coil packs were bad and they replaced them. $800 repair. The problem never went away except the engine light is off. We went back and the service manager said that since the engine light is off there is nothing he can do. I have subsequently learned that the coil packs are under an extended warranty, so we shouldn"t have been charged in the first place. Now the motor is leaking oil and we are going to spend $3800 for gasket repairs in the motor. What a piece of junk car.
